Grade: Senior

Personal: Lives in San Jose with mom, dad, grandfather; has an older brother who attends college in Oregon.

Accomplishments: Evelyn has run competitively for six years and is currently on the Heritage Track Club. At the National Scholastic Indoor Championship Track Meet in New York City, Evelyn placed third in the one-mile run, and was named Indoor Mile All-American. Besides the mile, Evelyn also runs the 400 and 800 meters. ``Through track, I have learned about discipline, desire, determination, and I've had wonderful experiences to last me a lifetime,'' she said. At school, Evelyn was named scholar athlete her sophomore and junior years and is the president of the Culinary Society, a cooking club; she has also been named most valuable player and athlete of the year. She is the acolyte leader at the Episcopal Church in Almaden, and is an avid babysitter.

Role model: Grandfather, Col. Ben Heckemeyer. ``He is a wonderful person who has taught me to laugh heartily, live life to the fullest,'' Evelyn said.

Favorite subject: English. ``I love to read and write,'' Evelyn said.

Favorite food: Italian, Chinese, Japanese cuisines

Dream job: Owning a restaurant

What's next: Evelyn plans to attend college and hopes some day to compete in the Olympics.
