Shannon Rowbury, Duke track and field: The senior out of Sacred Heart Cathedral became the first female NCAA track champion in school history by winning the mile (4 minutes, 42.17 seconds) Saturday at the NCAA indoor meet in Fayetteville, Ark. Then she finished second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:02.73, nearly 11 seconds faster than her previous best. Rowbury, who won the 800-meter California state title as a senior, has won the most All-America honors in Duke history, male or female, with six.
