Finish Lynx Clinic - 01/11/14
Hi all Looks like we already have enough interest to confirm the clinic. It will be at Los Gatos HS on Jan 11th (that's the best date for everyone) from 9:00am - 11:30 then we'll be out on the track (for the All-Comer meet) from 12:00-3:00ish. The room is behind the Snack Shack at the track and will be open at 8:30 so that you can set your gear up before the clinic starts. Below is a general outline of what we will cover and I want to hear back from YOU on items that you would like us to cover so that everyone's needs are met. Some expectations by your course instructors: - This is primarily a "Beginner/Novice" class. We will touch on advanced topics but want to stick with the basics and practice them over and over again. - You have the latest version of Lynx (8.24) loaded on to your computer (at least 8.0 version since that is what our slides will be referencing). You can download the latest Lynx version at: http://www.finishlynx.com/support/files/ - You have your computer talking to your Lynx camera. You can tell if they are talking if you click on the red stop sign (next to the blue "I") in the upper left hand corner. If you start to see a picture on your computer then the two are talking to each other. If you are unable to get these two systems to talk with each other, drop me an email or call me at (408) 460-6785 and I will try to help you trouble shoot the problem. Best to do this prior to the clinic so we are not slowing everything down - we have alot to cover that day. What we plan to cover is: - Two computer setup (one Capture computer, one Evaluate computer) - don't try and do it all on one computer! - Finding the finish line (or aligning the camera, this is the toughest thing to get right). In the afternoon we'll go out on the track for this. - Creating an event, arm the event, recieve the start signal, capture the event, save the event, evaluate the event, save the event, print the event. (We will be doing alot of this as a "lab" so that it becomes automatic for you). - Creating a PPL (people file of athletes) so that your printout gives you more than just place & time. - Tips & hints on how to do things quicker and easier. - Troubleshooting Tips (for something will always go wrong). What I need from you is: - What level of FinishLynx user are you (newbie, novice, comfortable)? - What exactly do you want to cover/learn from the clinic? - other? Please send this information to me ASAP. Pass the word on to other coaches/parents in your league that you know would like to come to this clinic but who do not regularly go to LynbrookSports.com to hear of the clinic. Have them email me so I know they are coming. Also, please give me a firm head count of how many people are coming with you so I'm sure that the room at LG is large enough (ie. me alone, me +2, etc). I will be sending you a link to the course outline once we clean it up so that you can print it in advance of the clinic and bring with you to make notes on. You will be hearing from me... take care. hank
