Dammit Direction
Start: At the first 'white dashed' line that's just south of the 5K FINISH.
So, start is 1.5' north of the north most stairwell vertical support bar. Begin
with 500 meters on the track, then head out to the dam trail.
Note: The first Pipe Brace is just south of the 1.5 mile par-course marker.
Mile 1: Is between the 11th & 12th pipe brace, heading out towards the dam on the
dam trail.
Turnaround: Is at the 92nd pipe brace (which is the 1st brace after the 'ringed
ladder' that goes around the pipe).
Mile 2: You pass the Mile Marker and it's 30 feet before (south) of the water pipe
that drains into the dam runoff culvert. It is also right where the 1.5 mile
par-course marker is located.
You re-enter the track at the south end and begin to run 1.75 laps on the track before
you finish. The first lap must be run in lane 4.
Mile 3: At the lane 1, 'beginning of acceleration zone', marker for the 2nd
exchange (200m start).
Finish: At the 6th set of 'blue dashed' lines (by the 2nd out of
four, north most step entrance into the stands in front of the Press Box). Or, the
Finish is 17' north of the Start.
Vasona Direction
Start: At the first 'white dashed' line that's just south of the DAMMIT 5K FINISH.
So, start is 1.5' north of the north most stairwell vertical support bar. Begin
with 500 meters on the track, then head out to the dam trail.
Turn right before Forbes Mill and go over the bridge which takes you over Hgwy 17.
Get onto the bike trail heading towards Vasona Park.
There is a water fountain about 100 yards after you cross MILES AVENUE. Watch for
cars while crossing (single file) MILES Avenue.
Mile 1: There are two trees with painted green/yellow spray paint dots on them on the
freeway side of the trail about 150-200 yds past the water fountain
OR
25 yards past the 'flush to cement' water drainage pipe that is on the farthest side
from the freeway.
Turnaround: 9th pole (with pole #1 being the corner pole just off of the cement,
where the asphalt begins) before the concrete ends and the asphalt begins.
Mile 2: You pass the Mile Marker and it's about 100 yds later
OR
it's 10 yds before (remember, you're now heading back) the protruding drainage pipe
on the side furthest from the freeway.
You re-enter the track at the south end and begin to run 1.75 laps on the track before
you finish. The first lap must be run in lane 4.
Mile 3: At the 5th (lane 5) orange triangle on the back stretch.
Finish: At the blue dashed lines that is right before the start of the 65m hurdles.
