Dear USCAA Board Of Directors, Sept. 11, 1998

The Bay Area is pleased to submit our proposal to host the 1999 National Corporate Track Championships.

Many of you probably remember the great weekend of competition and fun that we had at the 1988
National Corporate Track Championships at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, California. We're still
together since our inception in 1985 and after continually hosting our Regional meet we're anxious to
once again host the Nationals in the San Francisco Bay Area on the weekend of July 17-18, 1999.

Our desire to host the '99 Nationals comes from the pride we have in our community, our track facilities,
and our ability to organize an event of this nature through the efforts of a Steering Committee.

Facilities - The site of the '99 Nationals will be at Los Gatos High School. Los Gatos annually hosts the
PA-AAU Western Masters Regionals and many first class run High School Invitationals. Los Gatos offers
an 8 lane track, field event grounds and shower facilities.

Officials - We are fortunate to have the local PA-AAU officials available to preside over our National
meet. They understand our event and enjoy it. Most importantly, they bring to our events the same high
standards and pride that they display at all the USA/TF meets they officiate.

Financial - Seeds for sponsorships in the community have been planted and a confirmation that the
Nationals will be here in 1999 should help cultivate them. We're confident that a budget of around
$49,000 could be supported by a combination of sponsorships and team entry fees.

Weather - The weather conditions in the San Francisco Bay Area in July are ideal for a National
Championship event. Sunny and warm days (around 70 degrees) with no humidity and cool nights and
mornings (perfect for road races and exploring).

Organizing Committee - The members of the committee have all been involved with either the 1988
National Meet or our Regional Meets. We like to come up with ideas and like to implement them even
more. Most of all, we enjoy each other's company and take pride in our work in organizing. We truly do
function as a team. Sub-committees are assigned to cover various areas, such as communications, events
and rules, road races, officials, medical support, promotions, post meet results, and of course the party.
Some of our members are either current USCAA Board members or have been Board members in the past.
We have monthly meetings so we have frequent contact with our region's team representatives.

Attractions - With the sites of San Francisco at everyone's fingertips, Sausalito just on the other side of
the Golden Gate Bridge, "Do you know the way to San Jose" in the southern region and miles of beautiful
beaches from Santa Cruz to Monterey, what else could you ask for. Information regarding annual events
and these wonderful locations will be available, either mailed or on the Web.

We also are the home of two professional ball teams, the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics.
There are two world class Zoo's (also in San Francisco and Oakland). There are many cultural events that
take place from San Francisco to San Jose as well as on the East Bay in Oakland and Berkeley. There is
an abundance of activities and entertainment through out all the Bay Area including the host community
of Los Gatos for the whole family to experience. Memories are to made here in the San Francisco Bay
Area and we would like the opportunity once again to do so.

We're ready to host the 1999 Nationals and appreciate your consideration of our proposal. If you have any
questions, please call Hank Lawson (408) 446-9063 or Danny Moon (408) 756-4910.

Respectfully submitted,
