North Coast Section team champion Mt Diablo placed two men on the first team, and one man on
the second team to dominate the 1969 All Northern California team released by the Northern
California Track & Field Association. St Francis and Campolindo also place two runners
on the first team. Central Coast Section Champion Homestead High, plaed one runner on the
first team and two runners on the second squad as the Mustangs once again showed they were
one of the top teams in the country.
Five sections were represented on the mythical teams (North Coast, Central Coast, North,
San Francisco, Oakland, and San Joaquin).
The selection committee was composed of Plato Yanicks (M-A), Bob McGuire (Pleasant Hill),
Carl Renner (Cupertino), Ken Thomas (Soquel), Bob Woods (Camden), and Terry Ward (SI).
Tom Hale and Ed Silva are the only repeaters from last years Honor Team. Hale was selected as
Sophomore of the Year, last season. Hale won all 25 races he entered this season. With one
more season of eligibility, Hale looms as one of the best runners ever produced in the Northern
California area.
Due to lack of funds, The Northern California Track & Field Association will not sponsor
an awards meeting this year as it has done in the past.
RELEASE FOR THE PRESS IS THURSDAY, DEC 18.
