1979 Summer Letter
The summer seems to be slipping away so quickly that one can’t believe it is already August and time to start thinking about the upcoming cross country season. Freshman must see their own physician and get their physical card completely signed. After this is accomplished, you will need to take it to the main office at Lynbrook and, if all the information is correct and compete, the ladies in the main office will give you a "pink receipt" to give to me. With this out of the way, all you need to do is make sure that you are out running.
The first day of allowed team practice is Monday, August 27th; however, I shall be flying back from Montreal, Canada, and the World Cup Track meet that day. I hope that I can be up and awake Tuesday morning, August 28th, by 9:30 a.m. for the first practice. We can meet by the baseball backstop. I would like to have practice at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the 28th; Wednesday, the 29th; and Thursday, the 30th. As of now, I believe that school will start September, 6th so on September, 4th and 5th teachers have meetings most of the day, so we will practice at 3:00 p.m. If school starts earlier, changes will have to be made with the above schedule.
For returning runners, some of you will be getting you own physical examinations, so you can do the same as the freshmen. For others who want to get a physical exam from Doctor Levitz, I still do not know the dates that he will be giving team exams at Lynbrook.
I believe that we will have to wait until September 4th to give out lockers, so for the first few days it would be best to come ready to run. The girls will have to wait until Mrs. Rowland can give the lockers to you.
Although I have been in San Jose several times this summer, it has been difficult to see everyone. I realize that many of you have been on vacation, working or perhaps out running and I’ve missed you; thus the above information just in case I missed you again today.
See you later this month
