Here are my computations of the Crystal Springs standards for each division
that must be beaten in order to get a State XC Meet at-large berth. If
you
decide to put these standards on your web pages, please note that they are
unofficial as the CCS office must make the official computations and then get
approval from a higher Office.
N.B. If the figures do not line up in neat columns, try changing your
font
to Courier.

The first time shown in each column is the Woodward Park standard for each
division. This standard was computed by George Varvas and is based upon
performances at the state meet for the last 3 years.
The second time shown - 2:20 for the boys and 2:30 for the girls - is the
average of the difference between team times at Crystal and Woodward Park for
CCS teams that ran in the state meet for the past 5 years. Their times
for
the CCS championship meets were compared to the their times at the state
meets. The average difference for the past 5 years was computed as
follows:
Boys
Girls
1999 86:42-84:19 = 2:23
1999 104:41-103:07 = 1:34
1998 84:57-82:43 = 2:14
1998 105:29-102:27 = 3:02
1997 85:29-82:30 = 1:59
1997 106:56-103:54 = 3:02
1996 86:24-83:05 = 3:19
1996 107:04-103:26 = 3:38
1995 85:18-83:33 = 1:45
1995 106:11-104:57 = 1:14
Average 2:20
Average 2:30
The first figure shown in each computation is the average team time for CCS
teams at each state meet. The second figure is the average team time at
the
CCS meet for each team that qualified for the state meet. The third
figure
is the average team time difference between Crystal Springs and Woodward Park.
The average teams times were computed as follows:

It should also be noted that the CCS may be run on a course
other than
Crystal Springs this year. If so, then we will have no chance at a
state
meet at-large entry because a course must be run for 5 years in order to
compute an average differential.
