Varsity Boys

Varsity Boys: Gunn junior Andrew Lipkin took the first mile in under 5 minutes in an attempt to get on the record board. A strong kick gave him a finish time of 11:05, good for 18th fastest all-time and 7th best in school history. The Gunn sophomore duo of Garrett Reid and Zach Klapholz Brown finished in the next two spots with excellent times of 11:35 and 11:40. Palo Alto's Jacob Yufa and Danny Vinson broke up the Gunn pack in 4th and 5th, but Gunn took the next 4 places to win the team title 19-42. Varsity Girls

Varsity girls: Gunn's Ruth Graham was out fast in 5:27 for the first mile, and never really slowed down. She broke her own course record and narrowly missed breaking 12 minutes as well. Her final time of 12:01 (5:30 per mile average pace) was 12 seconds faster than her record from last year. Gunn sophomore Tori Tyler placed second in 12:49, the 5th fastest time ever on the course and the second fastest in school history. Gunn senior Erica Yung completed the sweep of the first three places with an outstanding time of 13:09 good for 10th fastest ever and 5th fastest in school history. Paly's Danielle Miller also made her way on the record board with the 17th fastest time ever of 13:22. Gunn placed all 8 runners (we were a little loose on the team limits) ahead of Paly's 4th runner to take the team title 21-38. Frosh/Soph Boys

Frosh-soph boys: Palo Alto raced only their freshmen here (all their sophs ran varsity), but Palo Alto's Scott Himmelberger led almost the entire way, winning in 12:16 for the 2.18 mile course. Gunn swept the next 6 places to take the team title 20-42. Junior Varsity Boys: Palo Alto's Luc Pieron toyed with the field and won easily in 13:09. In the only close race of the meet, the Palo Alto boys placed 3 in the top 4 to win 25-30. Junior Varsity Girls: Gunn's depth showed through despite running two usual JV's varsity with a sweep of the top 6 places and 14 of the top 15. Gunn sophomore Elissa Brown won her first cross country race in 15:11, just missing the all-time JV girls record board. She was followed by senior Cynthia Chen, junior Rosa Poggesi, sophomore Stephanie Lam, junior Sara Prescott, and sophomore Sue Fu.
