The runners will receive a place stick as they finish the race, continue through the chute, and then give their place stick to the finish-table officials, who will then record their place on the sheet for their school.

Santa Clara will furnish the place sticks for the El Camino division.

Paul Jones of Palo Alto is the meet director for the El Camino division.

Paul Jones of Palo Alto will arrange to have the results for the El Camino division compiled at Palo Alto high school after the race or, if Palo Alto is not available, will arrange for another site. All coaches are welcome to help Jones compute the results.

DAL will do their results in the same manner that they have in the past. Each athlete will be given a label to attach to their uniform, as they come out of the chute, the label will be posted on a results board. Job assignments are as follows:

DeAnza League XC League Representative

After a half-hour campaign speech by Tom Newman of Los Gatos, he was overwhelmingly (4-3) voted to be the DAL league representative. Tom, who was ecstatic about his victory, offered to buy drinks for everyone, payable whenever you are near a drinking fountain at Los Gatos high

school.

School Uniforms & Jewelry Rules

These rules will be enforced at the league finals. The meet director will attempt to warn violators of these rules prior to the start of the race but if he misses anything, violators of the rules are still subject to disqualification as it is their responsibility to comply with the rules.

Rules for using the Crystal Springs course

At no time is there to be anyone up on water tank hill.

Buses are to drop off athletes at the gate between the last 2 houses on the right side of Hallmark Avenue. After dropping off the athletes, the buses are not to turn around using the driveways. They should use the streets.

The buses should not double park while dropping off the runners. If they do so and a police officer observes them, they will be given a ticket. Further, the school will be

subject to banishment from the course in the future.

There is to be no throwing of objects, including rocks, frisbees and footballs. There is also no music boxes that others will hear. Personal CD players/ radios are okay.

There is to be no hanging out in people’s yards. It is private property.

There is no smoking or pets in the park. Please remind the parents.

Each team is responsible for clearing their own trash before leaving their area.

Bob Rush, who is in charge of the park for cross country races, will periodically check to see whether the coaches have their emergency cards with them. If not, their teams will be asked to leave the park.

PRE-SEASON ANOUNCEMENT

We will hold our pre-season XC meeting at 5PM on 9/7/04 at Wilcox high

school. I have tentatively (pending approval by the school) scheduled the meeting

for the Teacher's Lounge (right off the front parking lot).

The meeting was over by 5:30PM last year.

Agenda items include letting everyone know what happened at the CCS

pre-season meeting on 9/1, discussing the SCVAL Center Meet at Crystal Springs, and

discussing the league finals. If any coaches have other items that they would

like placed on the agenda, please let me know.

As far as I know, the DAL does not have a league rep. Both the DAL and the

El Camino should have a rep at the 9/1 CCS meeting (7PM). So, the DAL coaches

might want to talk to each other and appoint someone to attend the meeting.
