CCS Post Season Minutes (unofficial) - 2007

SCVAL Coaches One item of interest that came up at the CCS meeting on Wednesday night is the definition of a team.

As all of you know, the top half of the teams at the league finals qualify for the CCS meet. A team is a school with 5 runners on the line at the league finals. Thus, if 6 schools have 5-7 runners on the line and 1 school has 4 or less runners on the line for the varsity race, then the leagus has just 6 teams in the race and only 3 teams qualify for the CCS meet.

We had previously been under the impression that if a school had had 5 runners on its team at any time during the season that it would be considered as having a team at the league finals.

The new interpretation of what is considered a team at the league finals was stated by asst CCS commissioner Steve Stearns.

Let's hope that all SCVAL schools will have 5 girls on the line for the varsity finals next year.
