Lynbrook HS - Cross Country - 2009 Highlites & Lowlites
- Team is 30 girls (most ever), 52 guys & 3 Coaches, total=82 (biggest squad ever). Lynbrook Running Camp in Felton: - Second Lynbrook Running Camp with 2 hour runs. - Coach Ruth joins 'The Team'. - More Uno and some 'other' card game (Luca?). - Good idea not to place your tent too close to the coaches - right? Marshall Clark 4 Miler: - 12 Lynbrook runners participating. - Luca takes 2nd overall. - The XC Team earning $'s for the Hawaii Fund. - Meghana & Ali are 300 Mile clubbers this year. - Can you say "Turf & Surf"? Ahhhhhhh. Oh, and Cup-Cup. Hawaii Time Trial: - Luca & Amrit take it out while runners 3-8 battle it out (15 second spread). - 74 finishers - what a great start - with some quick early season times. - The Hawaii Team is chosen (with two Freshman, Shaelyn & Jennifer). Lynbrook Center Meet: - 'Fresh Meat' continues its tradition. - Not as hot as '08 (only 93 degrees). - Kuo wins for the second year in a row as the FSB take the title. - FSG go 1-2-3-4-7 while winning the team title (by alot). - Luca starts with a CR while the team finishes 2nd. - JVG beat Wilcox on the 6th man tiebreaker (thanks Joy). - 640 total runners - whew. EarlyBird Invite: - 14 hearty souls make the trip to Salinas. - Another School Record for Luca and Top 20 All-Time. - Everyone PR's (according to XCStats) with Ryan by 1:58. - Ruth runs 21:06 in the Coaches race. - Cindy gets reminded about hills and sits under the water table for a loooong time. Firebird Invite: - Madhav takes over for Cindy & Andrew by running THREE loops of the course. - Ian wins the FS Boys race (team takes 2nd). - Vivian leads a 1-2-3 sweep in the JV Girls (team is 2nd). Iolani Invite: - Athletes behavior gets complimented by a woman at Duke's. - Missing the VB win by 1 point. - It's HAWAII!!! - Varun can't keep his hands on his stuff (Wallet, Keys, Shoe) - Hank's Burp (enough said). - Jake & Hank survive the coaches race. Saratoga Invite: - Wins by Luca, Lila, Grant & Ian. - Team wins by VB, VG & FSG. - Top 19 get medals as Alanna finishes 20th. - School Records for VB & JVB. Stanford Invite - Ryan was Varun and Vivek was Boris. - Team Records for both VB & VG teams. Central Park Invite: - Guys beat the #5 team in the Nation. - School Records for VB, JVB & VG. Artichoke: - Traffic on the way over - ugh. - School Records for VB & VG. - Cool coaches hats (pumpkins) for all coaches (thanks Karen). - VG & JVG win the team titles. - Pumpkin Pie at the Pumpkin Patch on the way home. Crystal Springs - SCVAL Style: - Windy and Cold, just ask Ruth. - Luca 15:06.1 (and that takes 2nd!). - It's a plague, everyones back starts going out at the top of Cardiac. - Frosh guys try to nap on drive home but Lila keeps calling them. Monterey Bay Invite - Jennifer shows her guts by running with a bloody nose. - School Records for the VB, JVB & JVG. - Lots of Team & Individual hardware for this Friday Invite. Crystal Springs Center Meet #2 - The course is becomming our "Friend." - Running some good times, guys and gals will make it to CCS. - Water balloon ambush as Jake talks about "Life's Surprises". - Pasta feeds (and non-pasta feeds) are a regular tradition. - Hash Run, Slurpee Run, Turf & Surf ..., you get the idea. - Speaking of the Hash Run...
