CCS Preview - 2015

High school notebook: Top CCS cross country runners set for big day By Glenn Reeves and Darren Sabedra Staff writers The Central Coast Section cross country finals are Saturday at Crystal Springs in Belmont. The first race of the day, Division V girls, starts at 10 a.m. The final race, Division IV boys, is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Lynbrook's Justin Robison was the first runner to crack the 15-minute barrier this year at Crystal Springs, running 14:59.2 at the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division finals. "I think I am going in with the fastest time for Division II and maybe for all the divisions," Robison said. "I'd like to keep it that way after CCS of having the fastest time of the day. In doing so, I think I will probably have to go a little faster than I ran at league last week." Gunn's Gillian Meeks, Homestead's Elena Kamas, Cupertino's Caroline Gee, Archbishop Mitty's Julia Lemak and Harker's Niki Iyer are among nine girls runners who finished under 18 minutes at league finals. Bellarmine College Prep is a big favorite to win the boys Division I team title. St. Francis in Division II and Saratoga in Division III are also favorites to win boys team titles based on times turned in at league finals. Homestead in Division I and St. Francis in Division II go in with the top girls team times in their respective divisions.
