Creating & Testing the HOMEPAGE

o Start with an empty file. Do not worry about the Lynbrook 'framing' (that will be inserted automatically). Create whatever you like. NOTE: Do not just save the existing HOME page as a template to work with. If you do this then you will have the Lynbrook 'framing' imbedded within the Lynbrook 'framing', that is why you should create your own file from scratch. o Save the file as 'homepage1.htm' (it will be renamed later) o FTP into the Lynbrook Server (ask Hank Lawson or Maria Jackson for the password to directory 'oldnews'.) NOTE: If you don't have FTP Explorer on your computer, click here. o Upload the file 'homepage1.htm' into the 'oldnews' directory (replacing any old one). o Get into IE or NETSCAPE browser and type in the following URL: http://www.lhs.fuhsd.org/index1.html NOTE: This URL adds the Lynbrook 'framing' to the 'homepage1.htm' file you just uploaded. You can now see what it will look like when moved into production. o When satisfied with your final product, rename 'homepage.htm' (the current HOME page) to 'homepage.htm.yymmdd' (where yymmdd = current year/month/day) - so you have a backup. o Rename 'homepage1.htm' to 'homepage.htm' (realize that the file names are case sensitive). o You are now done and the new HOME page is installed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Athletic Pages

o These same instructions hold true for any Athletics page(s) you are doing, only the names are slightly different. o As an example, let's say you are working on GOLF for the year 2001. o The file that you want to create would be '2001.htm', which can be whatever you want. NOTE: Do not just save an existing sports page as a template to work with. If you do this then you will have the Lynbrook 'framing' imbedded within the Lynbrook 'framing', that is why you should create your own file from scratch. o You would then FTP into the 2001 sub-directory under the GOLF directory (see Hank Lawson or Maria Jackson for the correct password). o You would then FTP in the '2001.htm' file, as well as any other files that you need, into that directory (GOLF/2001). NOTE: Do NOT, in any way, touch the 'index.htm' file that is in the 2001 directory. Do NOT touch, or add, any files into the GOLF directory. The only directory you are allowed to manipulate is the 2001 directory (and any sub-directories that you might create under the 2001 directory). o When you upload the '2001.htm' file, get in a browser and go to the following URL: http://www.lhs.fuhsd.org/ATHLETICS/GOLF/2001/index.htm and you will see your newly created page with the Lynbrook 'framing' around it.
