Case Study Interpretations that apply to the CCS meets:

      1. Cell phone use during the competition results in immediate disqualification, not a warning. (CCS: 8 such warnings in 2003, ??no cell phones on the field??))

4.5.9 Pole vaulter disqualified for viewing digital pictures (back of camera) during the competition.

7.2.10 Pole vaulter disqualified during warm-ups for being pushed in the back on a jump. (CCS: note, no warning)

      1. A team is disqualified for one member wearing an illegal uniform. The coach protests that the clerk should have detected the uniform prior to the race. COMMENT: While the clerk shall exercise some PREVENTIVE OFFICIATING by doing a uniform check prior to the race, the PRIMARY responsibility for adhering to the rules is that of the competitor and the competitor’s coach. (CCS: not the clerk’s job)
      1. In the 400m relay, one runner of Team A is wearing white shorts, the other three purple. If discovered before the race, the runner shall be advised that the uniform must be changed before the runner may participate.
