1997 Cross Country Highlights & Lowlights
* 35 Boys, 10 girls (Largest Lynbrook team I have coached, 6th largest
ever)
* Lynbrook Time Trial went from a "Low-Key" race to a 9 team
Invitational.
* Chan scores 20 on Senior Girls list
* Claussen is 14th on Frosh Girls list
* Chavez is 6th on Soph Boys list
* Sirohi garners a 12th on Junior Boys list
* First Alumni, Amie Wu, runs the Time Trial taking 4th overall.
* Fremont Invit Sirohi finishes 9th and grabs some hardware
* Chavez takes 3rd, a mere 5 seconds from 1st, also getting a medal
* Ellin Chen misses varsity race so runs JV finishing 14th and grabbing
a medal.
* Central Park: Sirohi & Chan grab medals in the Varsity divisions.
* Claussen gets 1st medal by finishing 22nd in JV girls race.
* Blossom Valley: Jacobus runs JV due to a Band conflict and finishes
15th getting last medal.
* Coach drops 2 places, to 4th, but is still first "old man"
(over 40).
* Chavez goes from 4th to 34th due to a wrong turn and is beat by Frosh
Jin-Wien
* Claussen, Cordova & Chen all garner medals
* Artichoke: Traffic is a mess so Rostami, Fruen & Chan all miss
their races.
* Chan runs as Soph girl and forgets NOT to go thru the chute, finishing
39th.
* Fruen goes from 11th to 14th in the last half mile but still wins
his first medal.
* JV Boys finish 5th as a team, 3 points behind Mission SJ
* Rostami makes sure the girls all get to the start of their races.
* Shen & Tai are only Frosh/Soph members to make their race, all
others run JV
* Serra Invit: Kai Yu is #1 runner for team
* Even with 14 male runners we had incomplete teams since they were
all registered as A & B teams in two races and not enough for one team
showed up to race and we were unable to merge our teams. Next year we'll
run under "assumed names" if we have to
* 1st Center Meet at Crystal is a barn-burner so half of the races
are canceled
* Mrs P joins us for her first X-C meet as Assistant Coach
* Matt Cheung still PRs while running the course "unofficially".
* Rallye Run is once again won by girls team of Cordova, Claussen (under
protest by Boys team)
* Foothill Invit: Soph boys finish 6th out of 13 teams
* Junior Boys finish 4th
* Tung leads race for 1st 400 meters before succumbing to fatigue
* Lynbrook finishes 4th in VB, VG & JVB at Lynbrook Invit (8 teams)
* Gray, Rostami, Sirohi, Chavez, Chan, Claussen all grab medals
* All but 3 Lynbrook runners run Personal Bests at Lynbrook Invit
* Yun-Nikolac misses race due to being asleep at the time
* VB & VG both finish 7th at DAL League Finals
* VB Dual meet record is 1-5 for a 6th place finish (2-11 in SCVAL
for a 12th out of 14)
* Sirohi does his Gabriella Anderson ('84 Olympics) impersonation at
the finish line
* Chavez qualifies for CCS, Gray runs it
* VB overall record is 16-89 ('96 was 29-76)
* VG Dual meet record is 3-4 for a 5th place finish (6-8 in SCVAL for
a 9th out of 15)
* VG overall record is 13-21 ('96 was 20-38)
* F/S Boys are 6th at DAL League finals
* F/S Dual record is 1-5 for 6th place finish (2-11 in SCVAL for 12th
out of 14)
* F/S overall record is 17-22
* JV Boys finish 4th at DAL
* JVB Dual Meet record is 3-3 (no info on EC JVB)
* JVB overall record is 18-22
* VB lose 4 seniors VG lose 1 senior JVB lose 1 senior
* Ironmen were Yu, Rodriguez, Fruen (2), Wishnack (3), Claussen
* Girls qualify for CCS as a team (4th year in a row)
* CCS is rained out so only a handful of individuals opt to run in
the makeup race
* VB team GPA is 3.5000 VG team GPA is 3.8095
* 18 boys with GPA of 3.5 or higher 7 girls GPA 3.5 or higher
