42 Boys, 15 girls (Largest Lynbrook team ever - largest girls by 1 - largest guys I've coached at Lyn [52 in '69]) 6 people do 300 Mile Club (Sirohi, Yu, Liow, Wishnack, Katz, Claussen) Parents meeting has 12 show, previous high was 8. Lynbrook is now a Div II team (by one student). Ochi & Harris sign up to be team managers, a first for me, ever. Lynbrook Time Trial: Saw VB, VG & F/S run slowest times ever by Lynbrook teams (see Invite results). Shin is only runner to make Top 25 list First Teacher, Jennifer Frere, runs the Time Trial taking 2nd overall (22 on AT list). Del Mar: JVB 2nd - looks like a Lynbrook / St Francis Dual meet Sirohi & Carrigan begin their close finishes Whitsett & Deal do the same Shin takes 4th (top 3 get medals) Fremont Invite: Enters teams in all divisions - Pizza at Jakes! Shin Grabs a medal (finally). Central Park: Sirohi & Shin grab medals in the Varsity divisions. Whitsett & Deal do the same in the F/S race. Blossom Valley: Beau "Which way do I go" Carrigan gets second for his first medal. More medals for Whitsett & Deal and a 3rd place finish for F/S Boys team. Sidorovsky takes 5th for some hardware. Shin, Claussen, Nguyen & Keever all garner medals and a 2nd place plaque (only team award for the year). Stanford: Welcome to the big Leagues. Guys take 26th, gals are 22nd. Paul Yang is lost and misses start of JV race - has to run Varsity but drop before the finish for he's the 8th man. Saratoga: Sirohi out, Yu moves up, Carrigans ham acts up. Jenkins runs the entire way but gets lost and is DQ'd. Chung pulls a Tung and leads the first 400 meters and then gets eaten up. 1st Center Meet: Shows JV guys and gals beating the competition by a landslide - Gunn coach threatens to file a protest. Rallye Run: Is won by the guys (after a 3 year streak by the ladies) of Yu, Whitsett & Nir). Coach is up a tree and it takes the underclassmen quite a while to find him. Foothill Invit:Whitsett garners only medal. Senior Boys finish 4th (they were also 4th as Juniors), team of Sirohi, Liow, Wishnack, Jhaveri & Katz. Lynbrook Invite: Everyone on team improves from beginning of year time. All but 4 Lynbrook runners run Personal Bests on Lynbrook course. VG beats SC after losing to them at Saratoga meet. Shin & Nguyen medal at the Varsity level with Qureshi getting the last JVG medal. Perng grabs a medal, Jensen misses by one. Sirohi medals and is now 10th on Senior Boys list. Shin, Nguyen & Keever are 11, 21 & 23 on Top 25 list for Soph girls. Whitsett medals and sits at 9th on Frosh Boys list. Fastest Lynbrook Team times ever run by VB, VG, JVB & JVG (see Time Trial at start of year). DAL: VB & VG both finish 6th at DAL League Finals (up from '97 7th) F/S & JVB take 4th - JVG get 5th Sirohi finishes strong and makes ALL LEAGUE Whitsett does likewise and is ALL LEAGUE Frosh/Soph VG team time is 9th - VB team time is 21st JVG Team time is 2nd - JVB team time is 19th - F/S team time is 13th - 29 years of Crystal Springs Guo - 25th Frosh girl; Shin, Nguyen, Keever & Claussen - 12, 16, 17 &20th Soph girls; Sidorovsky - 14th Junior Girl VB overall record is 25-89, take out Stanford and it's 25-64 ('97 was 16-89) VG overall record is 35-58, take out Stanford and it's 35-37 ('97 was 13-21) F/S overall record is 20-18, a winning season ('97 was 17-22) JVB overall record is 25-16, also a winner ('97 was 18-22) JVG overall record is 17-13, makes it 3 out of 5 (1st JVG team I've had at Lynbrook). Teams overall combined record is 122-194, a 38.6 winning % ('97 was 64- 154, 29.3 winning %) VB lose 2 seniors VG lose 0 senior IronM/F were: Yu (2), Claussen (2), Jhaveri, Liow, Nir, Deal, Whitsett Note: Wishnack (3) missed Stanford in '98 VB team GPA is 2.9 ('97 was 3.5000) VG team GPA is 3.587 ('97 was 3.8095) 5 athletes with a 4.0 (or better) GPA
