All CCS Nominations - Cross Country
Results of All-CCS Teams ********** ANOUNCEMENT *********** November 8, 1999 From: Daniel Cruz, Del Mar HS To: CCS XC Coaches Re: 1999 All-CCS Selections This season marks the 2nd renewal of the selection of the All-CCS Cross- Country Team. Nominated runners will be sorted into three (3) categories, 1st Team, 2nd Team and Honorable Mention. Coaches, if you believe that any of your athletes, or any other athlete in the section, should be considered as a member of any of these elite teams be sure to nominate those runners. The criteria is not strictly the runner's best time at Crystal Springs or any other benchmark XC course, but rather a mixture of their competitive efforts throughout the season. League Champions, meet records, "undefeated", placing and times in major invitationals will be utilized to determine each runners position on these teams. Every effort will be made to include marginal runners to the All-CCS Honorable Mention Team which will be approximately 20 runners deep. There is also a Class Runner of The Year in addition to a 1st team Frosh. A worksheet will be published and reviewed by committee members who will finalize their selections. The final list will be posted the week after the state meet as performances from that meet will be considered. Additional awards will be, Runner of the Year, Class Runners and an All-CCS Frosh Team, boys and girls. Athletes will receive a certificate and efforts are being made to publish our All-CCS Team members in the local papers. The selection committee will be comprised of the following coaches: Bill Daskarolis (Aragon) Hal Daner (Gunn) Julie L'Heureux (Santa Clara) Allen Green (North Salinas) Julius Yap (St. Ignatius) Danny Gruber (Aptos) Daniel Cruz (Del Mar) Submit your nominations at the section finals. Please note that any athlete can be nominated by any CCS coach. I have received several nominations by e-mail already and the list continues to grow.
