1st "Three" Generation Family on Crystal Springs XC Course - 2021
Ricardo Cano (El Camino '69) ran on the old Crystal Springs course during his sophomore year, fall 1966, in HS. His 11:11 time on the 2.25 mile course was a Sophomore Course Record at the time which he held for one week until Chris Carey (Carlmont) came along and broke it with a 10:57 clocking. Cano's 11:11 remains as the #8 Sophomore time until the "Hallmark Hills" cross-country course closed in 1969 due to the construction of Fwy 280. The time is equivelent to running 14:40 on today's 2.95 "Crystal Springs" course. Ricky Cano (Serra HS '98) ran his best time his Senior year, fall '97, with a 17:31 at the Crystal Springs Invite. At the CCS finals he was the 5th man on Serra's CCS Championship team thus earning a trip to the State meet where Serra finished in 10th place. Luciano ("Looch") Cano is a Sophomore at Serra this year (2021) and his best time was a 19:51.2 at the WCAL Finals.
