What was the course like? An eye witness view

from DyeStat TrackTalk:

"I was there and I ran it (and I'm also from SF, so I know what I'm talking about hopefully )

"The course starts off in Speedway meadow (which is grass), the footing there is okay (there's a few holes, but not too many) Then it goes up (there's a tiny hill) to the polo fields (horse track) which is ok surface to run on except at a few points it's like running on a beach (lots of sand). Then you head back through the way you came up from speedway, down to speedway meadow again.

"Toward the end of speedway there's a slight slope going up to and around the Big Tree. Then you get on to Kennedy drive which is a dirt trail (with a few rocks, sticks, etc.) though at some parts there was some mud. Next you turn left up past the horse stables, and that's where you run on concrete for like 50-100 meters(sorry I can't estimate distance that well) then it gets on to dirt again. It turns down to Lindley and you go around another tree and go back up to the trail you first came down from and continue on till you hit Kennedy again and turn down on this bike path (but runners crossed the bike path and ran on grass where there was another muddy part).

"You're in speedway again and you head straight and curve a bit to your left up this slope and around a tree, and then you run down the slope and head for about 200 meters to the finish which is next to the start.

"The course is 5K, so I guess you can say this course is fast, but I don't think it's as fast as Woodward Park in Fresno where the CA state meet is held at. I hope this helps people. "
