Running Camp - 8/9 thru 8/13, 2008

Date: Aug 9th thru Aug 13th, 2008 (4 nights, 5 days) Place: CampGround By The Lake, South Lake Tahoe (driving time approx 4 hrs) Map: CampGround Map - Road Map Cost: TBD (but I'm guessing about $100 a person) What it Covers: Gas, Food for Meals, Camp Ground What it DOESN'T cover: Food en-route to and from the camp Chaperones: Hank Lawson (408) 460-6785 & Jake White (new Lynbrook XC coach) 408 353-4329 Who can go: First 14 folks that turn in $ to me. Deadline: Need to have $'s by July 23rd (Wed) Plan: We leave 8/9 (Sat) morning at 8:00am and will arrive at around noon. Stop south of Sacramento (Harbor Ave) for break and snack. Stop at Subway in Tahoe for lunch (bring $'s or your own lunch). Check in and pitch our tents (yes, you'll need a sleeping bag and a tent). Check out the place and relax. Our run for the day will be a 5 miler, drop off on Nevada side and run home, at around 3:00. Shower up, relax/explore. Two athletes per day will shop and help with dinner each night. 4:30 head to Safeway to shop. 5:30 get the BBQ going, eat by 7:00, BBQ chicken. Lights out by 10:00 pm. The goal for the next 3 days will be to run in the AM, explore, swim, play and then to run in the PM as well (it's a running camp so let's run). We'll share stories and goals as well as what we've learned about running and from running. Sun - Leave by 8:30 and drive to end of Fallen Leaf Lake. Run all the way around the lake is 8-10 miles OR Run to Hwy 89 & back to Fallen Leaf Campground is 5.5 miles. Free time until 2:30 and then we run again (1.5 WU, Ultimate Frisbee, 1.5 WD) Head to Safeway at 4:00 - BBQ by 5:00 - Dinner of Hamburgers Lights out by 10:00 pm. Mon - Pioneer Trail Run (see below) from camp (7.1 mi), start at 9:00 am. Swim/soak in the lake. Free time until 2:30 and then over to the track for Relays of 8x200 Head to Safeway at 4:00 - Dinner of Spaghetti Lights out by 10:00 pm. Tue - Leave by 8:30 to Echo Lake or Emerald Bay (55-60 min run) Free time until 2:30 and then run to State Line and back (4.2 mi) Head to Safeway at 4:00 - Dinner of Tacos Lights out by 10:00 pm. Wed - Break down tents and pack up. Bike Trail past Fallen Leaf Lake from camp (7.3-8.3 mi), start at 9:00 am. Eat and finishing packing - load car - leave by 12:00 (at the latest) Stop south of Sacramento (Harbor Ave) for break and snack. Be back at Lynbrook between 4:30 & 5:00 pm. The Mtn View team will be there the week before us and they have gone here for 3 years now. Their coach is currently in Japan and when he returns on July 7th I will be meeting with him to 'pick his brain' on what we will need and what we can do, so stay tuned...
