CCS Minutes (unofficial): A quick update on what happened Wed night at the CCS meeting.

CCS Scholastic Championship Teams: Lynbrook snags tie for 7th in Varsity Girls XC.

NorCal Distance Coaches Clinic: FREE (gotta love that!) - Jan 3rd in Walnut Creek, limited to the first 50 coaches that sign up. Everyone is a student and everyone is a teacher. Read the link above left for more info.

SteepleChase Clinic: Dec 8 & 10 at 3:30 at Lynbrook HS track. Will teach techniques and actually go over barriers. Following week will practice water jump at WVJC and in Jan we'll run a 2000m Steeple at DVC (see link below) - FREE.

DVC All Comers: Starting Jan 3rd and running thru Jan 31st on Saturdays.

Holiday Hurdle Clinic: Coach Julia Pickslay (formerly Widstrand) is holding a 'hurdles' clinic at Los Altos HS Dec 29-Jan 1.

Garrett Rowe (Mt View): Is the SJ Mercury Athlete Of the Week.

Track Clinics: James Logan HS is having 5 mini-clinics (first one this weekend), check 'em out.

4th Annual: Old School Mile on Dec 13th (1:00) at Saratoga HS.

Speed Clinic: Mt Pleasant is hosting a Track Clinic on Dec 20th.

1600 Time Trial: Since everyone is in such great shape, we wanted to see what kind of 1600 they could rip off.

Seiko 129/149 Interface: Folks-Do you have one of the following stopwatches and wish you could download the times to your computer via the DataOut jack at the bottom? Seiko NEVER made an interface cable to do this but I have found someone who has. I have been testing the cable for a week and it works great! He is willing to make 6-10 of these cables for $250 each - yes pricey but it does the trick. If anyone is interested, let me know at HANKLAW@IX.NETCOM.COM and I will put you on the list.

FUHSD Championships: First time in Viking history where we won both the Varsity Boys & Girls.

Rallye Run and Sharks & Minnows: Lots of End-Of-Season traditions. Team of Patrick Poon, Samuel Lin, Chris Carter, AJ Flint & Michael Yuen won the Rallye Run by 1/2 point. Amy Yang (Sr), Vivek Singh (Jr), Alvin Chang (So), Ian Wilson (Fr) were the Class Champions in Sharks & Minnows. Graduation Run takes place this Friday.

Saratoga Creek Park: A quick little Rabbit Run at Saratoga Creek Park before heading off to Pepperdine (70% chance of rain - oh no, not again).

Mercury Athlete Of the Week: Soph Cindy Huang (Lynbrook) is recognized by the SJ Mercury News.

Central Park Invite: Guys continue to roll by getting win #4 while the Varsity Girls suffer their second loss of the year to Mtn View.

Saratoga News: Gives the Vikes some coverage.

Saratoga Center Meet: Lynbrook Boys extend it to three wins in a row. Cindy Huang also gets her third individual win in a row. F/S Boys have the best score of the day (30 pts) while winning their first.

Firebird Invite: Lynbrook Boys make it two wins in a row (after last weeks opening win at the Lynbrook Center Meet). Varsity Girls follow suit and also take a win. F/S Boys nab 2nd to a tough Homestead team and JV Girls take 4th (a mere 5 points out of 3rd). Rumor has it that the JV Boys took 2nd but that was not confirmed by the time we headed over for pizza at Jake's.

Mills XC Meet: CCS view on the "Open" division of the Mills XC Meet - I wouldn't risk it.

SCVAL Pre-Season Coachings meeting: To be held on Sept 2nd at 5:30 at the Wilcox HS teachers lounge.

Sports Physical: Seems like a pretty good deal if you need a physical. This was an offer from 2007 but might still be something they are willing to do.

Open Space Application: Coaches: If you plan on running your teams at either Rancho San Antonio or Fremont Older, beware. You need to have a permit or you may be cited. Print off attached application and FAX in - there is NO COST for the permit. Lynbrook HS example.

USCAA Track Results: After a 7-year win streak, Team SCVAL finally got beat at the Corporate Nationals by Sempra. SCVAL finished 4th to Aerospace in 2nd and Senasta in 3rd. Wait til next year, "We'll Be Baaaaack".

NorCal Coaches Clinic: is on July 26th at Castro Valley HS - check it out.

Coaches & Starters: check link to the left (especially the top rule: 3-9-2. Now starters are REQUIRED to have a CLOSED barrel starting pistol (most CCS Starters don't use this). Will we now loose these starters to the JC & College meets?

Matt Chisam (ex-SF): is at the Olympic Trials in the Decathlon mixing it up with Americas best.

CCS Top 100: Congratulations to the following 97 individuals that made it on to the CCS Top 100 All-Time list. Top 100 updates have been completed with the additional events of the Men's & Women's LJ and 300H.

SJ Mercury News: Track Athletes of the Year: Weiler (Los Gatos) & Thomas (Mt Pleasant).

Manzanita Mile: Watsonville HS X-C team is holding a fundraiser on July 19th.

Fox Athletics: Summer Racing Team - will be going to the JO's in Ohio this summer.

Tri-County Running Club: Works out 3 times a week in various locations - starting June 16th.

Coach Darrin Garcia (Pioneer): is going to start the A.C.T. Summer track club for any athletes interested in training and running over the summer. All events will be covered, especially hurdling and jumping.

300/500 Mile Club: You can start anytime between now and June 30th. The "Hank Lawson XC Club" will meet on Mon & Wed at 5:30 at Lynbrook HS (by the pool) starting on June 18th to run anywhere from 3-7 miles.
