'79 CROSS-COUNTRY

Lynbrook Vikings - VB, VG, SOB & FRB.

Oakland Marathon : When the X-C season is over one always runs a marathon, right? So on December 2nd, 1979 I gave it a go and finished 5th with a 2:25:00 clocking.

PA-AAUs : Cindergals run fastest girls team time ever with Karen Devine (Westmnt), ?, Maria King (Ayer), K Kwong (Home), Cathy Demmelmaier (Lyn), ? and Aida Stearns (Silver Crk).

Kinney Natl's : Cathy Demmelmaier places 15th with an 18:42 clocking.

Kinney West : Ellen Lyons leads the way at Crystal Springs with the fastest girls time ever.

CCS Finals : Jesse Colvin (10th) runs a Lynbrook CR with a 15:12 time.

DAL Finals : Jesse Colvin (2nd) runs faster each year (15:30) but the team slips back to 5th. Karen Whipple (5th) sets a Lynbrook CR with a 20:27 time and the team improves to 4th.

Summer Letter : Summer letter for the team, please read.

Boys playing on girls teams : In July, the MA Supreme Court said Boys must be allowed to compete on a Girls team if the school doesn't offer a boys team (ie. Field Hockey).

Baby Buggy Push WR : A group of 56 runners spent 24 hours at Los Gatos HS track pushing a baby buggy to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.
