Since we just ran CCS at Crystal Springs AND CCS athletes are headed to Fresno this weekend for States, I thought I'd post a picture of Fresno Pacific running at Crystal Springs in the 90's.
And a throwback to when San Jose State XC won the NCAA's two years in a row (1962 & 1963).

She had her sights set on the CCS All-Time 400 record (52.83) that was set back in 1984 by Leslie Maxie (Mills). On August 2nd, her goal was achieved at the AAU Jr Olympic Games where she ran 52.58 for the win and the record. SCVAL Post-season meeting: Nov 17th, 6:30 pm at Saratoga HS Team Room (by pool). Send any agenda items, by November 15th, to Paul Armstrong. Meeting handouts ARE HERE. As Maxwell Smart was known to say, "Missed it by that much". Amaya Bhardwaj (Paly) missed "dipping" by 1.5 seconds. Her 17:01.4 (5:38, 11:28 [5:50], 17:01 [5:33]) were solid splits for this CCS Champion. Varsity Boys (D1) racing til the end. Because of a forecast of rain on Wednesday, Thursday, and possibly Friday morning, the Crystal Springs Cross Country Course will be closed to everyone Wednesday through Friday. Amaya Bharadwaj (Paly) is making it a habit of running outstanding times as her 17:05.2 at Crystal shows. Leagues are also about having fun as these Lynbrook Ladies show their "Star" power. Ryan Chen (Mt View) runs 15:01.1 to "almost" dip and get on the Crystal All-Time list. Good luck Coaches at the SCVAL Championships on Tuesday. Hisham Mohammed (Lynbrook) and Ella He (Cupertino) won the Lynbrook Invite/FUHSD Championships. Ella won two years ago as well. With Leagues starting, thought I'd post a new CCS Rankings. Crystal Springs course in 1979: With League week coming up I thought we'd take a look back to 1979. Even back then there were issues with the Neighborhood around Crystal. Rules basically look about the same as do the consequences. One major improvement is we went from 2 porto-potties up to 4 - wow. Tori Tyler (Gunn) set the Bol Park CR back in 2004. Amaya Bharadwaj (Paly) broke it at the Palo Alto City meet by 1.5 seconds running a 11:39.5 time. Tyler went on to take 3rd at States that year. At the Mid-Season Mania, Anna Salter (CSUS) runs the #7 CCS Top 100 time - can a CCS record be broken in the future? My oh my, Milpitas goes 1-2-3 led by Arnav Agrawal. Amaya Bharadwaj (Paly) with another decisive win with a sub 18:00 at Baylands. The fastest time run on Crystal Springs for girls in Ten years was done on Tuesday by Amaya Bharadwaj (Paly). With a 17:25.0 clocking she now sits at #40 on the All-Time Crystal list - how much faster can she go? Some "hot" running at the Baylands with SCVAL #1 on the books. Amaya Bharadwaj (Paly) and Arnav Agrawal (Milpitas) had the fastest times of the day. Slaney Photos / Althouse Photos Branham's Elija Murillo smashed the Montgomery Hill Park record at the MHAL#1 meet. He became the first person to ever run under 14 minutes on the course, 13:51.86. He broke a long standing record previously shared by Richard Ho (Leland, 2012) and Mohamed Abdalla (Willow Glen, 2007). Matthew Gray (Fremont) and Ella He (Cupertino) win the Varsity races at Firebird. A newspaper cartoon from 1969 when NationWide protests were happening.Washington's Inaugural Prayer. Clean up day at Crystal Springs was a hit with 40+ folks showing up to get the course ready, and it is. So I thought I'd post the current Course Record holders. Crystal Springs Clean Up Day.
